Windsor Castle, supposedly one of the queen's favorite residences, is located west of London and we visited it on our way to London. It so happened that the day of our visit was also one of the days that the Ascot races were being held. Our tour director told us that the races, which also are a favorite of the queen's, are an event that those British who want to be "seen" attend decked out in their best and often quite inebriated. All of this meant that the drive to Windsor Castle was excruciatingly slow, particularly with a large motor coach. But it did give us an opportunity to view a portion of the Ascot event.
Windsor Castle itself is spectacular and in superb condition. Unfortunately, the major attractions at the castle, the State Rooms and St. George's Chapel, while stunning in their opulence, did not allow photography. That reduced my picture taking to exterior structures. Here is what I got.
I did get a couple of shots of a quartet of palace guards.
John.
