On our tour of Great Britain we spent two nights in the seaside town of Llanduduo, North Wales. The town, with its crying seagulls and dilapidated stores, had a different feel than the other places we stayed, as if it might best have belonged in a movie of intrigue.
Wales is a dual language principality, and most of the signs are in both Welsh and English. The Welsh words sometimes appear to be simply a random string of letters that, as we were told, often have entirely different sounds than their English letter counterparts. In short, forget trying to pronounce a Welsh expression.
Our hotel, supposedly the best in town.
The Welsh flag, sort of.
John.
