One of the places we visited in the Lake District was Hawkshead, a charming village of some 600 souls. In Hawkshead we checked out the school where Wordsworth presumably learned to write as well as a lovely little country church.
Here is the exterior of the school.
And the interior of the larger of the school's two classrooms.
We were told that at its peak, this classroom held 70 students, of various ages.
Here are some detail photos of the classroom, including the spot where Wordsworth carved his name, a practice that apparently was allowed.
I worked pretty hard to capture this feather quill. I finally decided that the best approach was to pose the feather against a light background.
As mentioned, we also visited a nice little country church in the town.
I find myself shooting many photos of windows. I think it's because the windows often tell a story, because the window serves as a framing device, and because often the interior light is not good and by taking photos out windows, I can rely on the direct light streaming in.
