The heart of the older part of Edinburgh is along the Royal Mile, which runs from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood. The street, as well as alleys, called "closes," that run off of it, contain shops, restaurants, and plenty of charm. It's a good place to take pictures, and here are a few that I took over the time we were the city.
Street artist.
Monument to the Duke of Wellington. Note the pigeon ... and the pigeon poop.
Balustrade. I liked the variation in the colors of the balusters.
Inscription above one of the closes. The caption reads "Have Awa' Chaps, I'm No' Dead Yet."
Plenty of shops with clever titles.
Views that I found interesting, looking down a couple of closes.
