MOROCCO: FEZ MEDINA AND SOUKS
In Morocco medinas are the oldest parts of a city, generally walled in with gates for entrance. Fez has Morocco’s largest medina, characterized by narrow, winding passageways, souks (marketplaces), artisan workshops, and residences, all in various states of repair. The passageways are generally so labyrinthine that our tour director cautioned us that without guidance from him and his associates we would almost undoubtedly get lost. Not a good thing. We spent much of our time in Fez exploring the medina, checking out the various souks. Following are some of the photos I took of the scenes.
