The Milwaukee Art Museum offers free admission on the first Thursday of each month. So in September I took them up on the offer with an evening visit armed with my new wide-angle lens. This is what I got.
First is a view of the Calatrava addition in the dusk.
I cropped the left side of this image to eliminate a banner extending below the footbridge that crosses Lincoln Memorial Drive.
I took a number of shots of the Quadracci Pavilion at the museum, one of my favorite architectural venues. I was a bit disappointed.
The technical quality of these shots is great, but, while abstract, they seem to come to across as a bit sterile. I think I just need to understand the limitations and the capabilities of the lens.
I did like this shot of the west corridor, primarily because of the doorway at the end of the corridor that draws one's eye.
Finally, a scene from the museum looking downtown to the west.
This required some post processing to rectify the office buildings. The building on the right is the new Northwestern Mutual office tower, which is actually 50 feet shorter than the US Bank building to the left of center in the image.
