When I visited Madison's Monona Terrace a couple of weeks ago, I also paid a brief visit to the state capitol building. I didn't spend a lot of time. For the most part I was trying to avoid duplicating what I have shot before. That said, I still found myself shooting the dome.
I have explained before that my preferred technique is to place the camera on the floor directly beneath the center of the dome and use a remote to take the shot. However, it happens that the camera does not lie flat on the floor, so I have rigged up an "apparatus" to place under one side of the camera to level it out. Well, on this visit I had forgotten to bring my apparatus, so I had to use the camera strap as a substitute. Not as good, but I got close.
Here are a couple of off-center dome shots.
A couple of stairway shots.
And finally an exterior shot that I converted to a black & white.
I'm not "done" with the capitol building, but it is getting more and more difficult to come up with something new.
