RAINY AFTERNOON

This is what happens when you want to take some pictures and it's too rainy to get out in the weather:

Last Thursday we were visiting Geri's dad in the Twin Cities and were confined to his apartment by an otherwise enjoyable thunderstorm.  Just goofing around, I decided to point the camera out the window, open up the aperture to f'/4.  For this first shot I set the focus on manual and left the view totally unfocused.

The black streaks are actually a tree outside the window.  Just OK, I thought.

For the next few photos, I used autofocus, not on the exterior scene, but on the raindrops on the window pane.

These I liked better.  I will admit to ramping up the contrast and saturation some to accentuate the abstract quality of the shots.
